As a professional in the fields of wedding photography & wedding video I can appreciate the importance of both art forms. Traditionally wedding photos are the most important factor in every wedding. Wedding Videography is normally overlooked. In the past a large amount of couples would resort to having a friend or relative film there big day. Unless the friend or relative is a professional film maker the result would normally be a shaky video with poor audio and picture quality. A poorly made video would normally collect dust over the years. Professional videography is also overlooked because a lot of couples do not understand the craft and time involved in putting together a great video. As great wedding photography requires good lighting and framing of; Video can require 10 times more. Think of this! Video is 30 frames per second while one picture in photography represents 1 frame then add audio and the constant changing of light situations. It takes skills and knowledge to bring forth a great product. After filming is complete then it’s time for editing. “I’ll leave editing for another day”!!!!!

Over the years I have noticed that a lot of couples are realizing the importance of wedding video. There is a saying “Pictures say a thousand words” At S L Productions that is true but our videos say a million. A professional video can bring a life time of laughs and memories. The joyful emotion on a brides face as she watches her movie as if she was in the audience is priceless. I took one of my favorite bridal portraits on October 6th 2006.

Heidi was the normal beautiful bride. We scheduled the shoot a few weeks prior to her wedding at the point in Mooresville, North Carolina. She was probably feeling the pressures that the average bride deals with 3 weeks before the big day but this day had an added suspense. She spent 4 hours that morning getting ready with hair and make up. When it was time to take her bridal portrait the weather had plans of its own. A storm was approaching and the winds where blowing her beautiful hair all over the place. She was so worried because the time she invested and how much the portrait meant to her. But to her surprise the lighting in the sky, the wind blowing, and her facial expression due to worry made one of the most beautiful picture I have ever seen. The marriage went off without a hitch Oct.28.2006 on “The Lady of the Lake” at Queens Landing in Lake Norman, NC.
